GOD AND THE FEARS OF MEN!

The fear of poverty; the fear of sickness; and the fear of death: the 3 ultimate fears known to mankind...

Fear: defined as an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm; is one emotion common to all humans and all living things alike; and to a large extent, much of the tireless efforts of many in their daily life is aimed ultimately towards ensuring these fears do not turn out to become reality...

So, in a bid to ensure they are able to make ends meet, to have all the good things and necessities of life; men work as hard as they possibly can, taking all the necessary risks, with some even going as far as ignoring the voice of their conscience and overlooking the future consequences of their actions; as long as they are not counted amongst the poor in society...

Then for the need to stay alive and well, keeping a healthy mind and body, the field of medicine and health care have indeed done well to a great extent in alleviating the worries related to physical/mental illnesses which are capable of crippling a man's ability to function as expected in his daily life activities; with the diverse body and health-care routines and medicinal supplements available today to help people live healthier...

And then for the safety of life itself; several life-care precautions are taken daily both in general terms and as related to each individual's unique daily demands... But yet we find that humanity in general still remains under the threat of these same fears, regardless of race or status, especially as life progresses with new challenges surfacing every now and then to ensure those fears are never completely eliminated...

So, the man who once thought he had overcome the fear of poverty since he now has more than enough of all the good things of life he always wanted, suddenly realizes that he needs to watch out for the uncertainties of the future business or economic situations which could definitely turn his fortune into misfortune overnight... 

And the man who once thought he could never find himself on a sickbed, considering his healthy lifestyle routines and clean medical history, then realizes over time that he actually needs to worry over some genetic illness linked to his family bloodline which may come for him too at old age; or worse still, the unforeseen disaster of a pandemic disease outbreak which could turn out to become his nightmare...

And then comes the chief of all fears: Death!... The one which though mankind has come to accept as a sad but inevitable reality, yet the thought of it alone would be enough to keep the man almost in a permanently depressed state of mind, for his great uncertainty about his life after death, perhaps on what side of Eternity he could just find himself; while he yet remains unsettled over when or where or how it will be, and most of all what he would be telling his Creator if asked to give an account of his life on Earth...

Be that as it may; The Almighty One, the Creator of the Earth and all its inhabitants, in His infinite wisdom, knows and understands the plight of humanity, and He graciously gave men His Word of Promise in which they could indeed find some peace of mind amidst all the uncertainties plaguing their thoughts...

Having given His Son Jesus for the redemption and liberation of mankind from all fears, He also gave His Holy Spirit to be the Believers' Strength and Guide in all seasons of life,  including those times when the uncertainties seem overwhelming... The same Holy Spirit who from the early days of the Church has been the Strengthener, Helper, and Comforter of God's People in situations of temptation, persecution, tribulation, and even death...

The Heavenly Father has also given to the Believers many great promises in His Written Word... Promises of peace, protection, healing, prosperity, long life, and ultimately a home with Him in Heaven, which remains the greatest hope of all the Called-Out Ones... 

And at such a time when these fears come knocking, there would be no better time to respond in faith... The Faith that is built on a proper and balanced knowledge of the nature of God, the power of God, the wisdom of God, the will of God, and the love of God...

Scriptures tell us:

"...Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage."  Hebrews 2:14-15 (NKJV)

"...For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."..." Romans 8:15 (NKJV)

"...For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

"...Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn." Psalms 46:2‭,5 (NKJV)

So today I encourage you; when you have done all you can and know to do, then please let God be God, and let Him do what only He can and knows to do... Because the fears and worries of today could never take away the troubles of tomorrow, but rather takes away the peace of today.

And I pray; may the peace of God, by the Holy Spirit, guide and guard your heart and mind, this day and always. Amen!
